HVL nabbed the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Plymouth Christian Academy on Monday. The Hawks were down 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Tristin Thompson doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs. Thompson was on the pitcher’s mound for HVL. He went seven innings, allowing four runs on ten hits, striking out two and walking zero. The Hawks tallied 15 hits on the day. Zac Ott, Dima Machovec, Logan Kittle, and Lorenzo Carraro all managed multiple hits for HVL, with Jared Glasel and Nick Hodgson each getting their first career hits. Ott led the Hawks with three hits in four at bats. HVL was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Kittle made the most plays with six. The Hawks tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Ott led the way with five. The Hawks will try and make it two wins in a row on Wednesday as they travel to Heritage Park to take on Taylor Preparatory at 5:00.
