Emily Haines was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Friday, driving in four on three hits to lead HVL past Wayne Memorial 14-3 on Friday. Haines drove in runs on a double in the first, a stolen base in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the fourth. The Hawks got things moving in the first inning, when Haines doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. HVL notched six runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Madison Golchuk, Dana LeFevre, Haines, and Annika Van Loton, a walk by Sophie Doehrer, and a fielder’s choice by Hannah Wellday. Haines earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for the Hawks. She lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out four and walking one. HVL tallied 11 hits in the game. Haines, LeFevre, and Van Loton all managed multiple hits for HVL. LeFevre and Haines each had three hits to lead the Hawks. HVL stole 11 bases during the game as three players stole more than one. LeFevre led the way with three. The Hawks travel to Oakland Christian on Tuesday, May 8. Game time is 4:30.
