HVL scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take a five-run lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning only to see the home team score four runs of their own and leave the tying run on third base as they held on for a 7-6 victory over Oakland Christian on Tuesday. Oakland Christian took a 2-0 lead into the fourth before the Hawks scored three times to take their first lead in the game. In the fourth Chloe Wellday singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Hannah Wellday singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Madison Golchuk singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. The scored remained 3-2 into the top of the seventh before HVL scored four runs making it a 7-2 game. The Hawks scored when Dana LeFevre tripled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Emily Haines singled on a 1-1 count, scoring LeFevre from third. Annika Van Loton singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, and Alex Hanselman singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Haines was the winning pitcher for HVL. She allowed eight hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out two. The Hawks pounded out 13 hits in the game. Haines, Van Loton, and Wellday all managed multiple hits for the Hawks. Van Loton and Haines each collected three hits to lead HVL. The Hawks were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Sophie Doehrer had the most chances in the field with ten.
