HVL Varsity 56 – Auburn Hills Christian 47
It took a total team effort on Thursday night for the Varsity boys to earn their first win of the young season. Zac Ott scored four points in the first quarter to help the Hawks end the first quarter with a 10-9 lead. Five different players scored in the second quarter helped the Hawks go into halftime leading 24 to 18. Midway through the third quarter, three Hawk starters found themselves with four fouls, and the bench came in and did a great job. Despite losing the lead for a couple possessions, they rebounded to take a two point lead into the fourth. Jonathan Tosto scored eight of his team high 14 in the 3rd quater. The fourth quarter was a thing of beauty. The Hawks had 6 assists on their 8 baskets while scoring 20 in the quarter to earn a 9 point victory. Besides Tosto’s team high 14 points, the Hawks also had 3 other players score in double figures: Josh Taube (11 points), Zac Ott (10 points), and Cameron Ohlsson (10 points). Logan Schliewe added six points and seven rebounds, and Logan Kittle added 5 points.
HVL JV 45 – Auburn Hills Christian 19
The JV opened the game on an 8-0 run and never looked back. The Hawks went into halftime up 20-10 and scored 18 unanswered points in the third quarter to take a 38 to 10 lead into the 4th quarter. Auburn Hills Christian outscored the Hawks 9 to 7 to make the final 45 to 19. Jack Beeskow (18 points) and Andrew Olson (14 points) led the way for the Hawks. Other Hawk scorers were Matt Neilson (5 points), Brian Wang, Colin Krzeminski, Angel Aguilar, and Nick Hodgson all chipped in 2 points.
