Multiple Teams · Girls’ Victorious, Boys’ Comeback Comes Up Short

Girls’ Varsity 49 – Roeper 9

The girls jumped out to a 12-5 lead after the first quarter, and doubled that lead at halftime, taking a 21-7 lead into the locker room.  The defensive pressure intensified in the second half as the Hawks outscored the Roughriders 28-2 to earn a 49-9 victory. All 12 Hawks on the roster contributed: Sophie Doehrer (11 points, 7 rebounds), Chloe Wellday (6 points, 6 rebounds), Dana LeFevre (6 points, 4 steals), Lilia Kasten (6 points), Callie Doehrer (5 points, 4 rebounds), Allie Prieskorn (4 points, 6 rebounds), Emily Haines (4 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals), Kate Beckerman (3 points), Alexis Schliewe (2 points, 4 rebounds), Autumn Cramb (2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals), and Krissa Sabit (3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block).

Roeper 53 – Boys’ Varsity 45

The boys tried to dig themselves out a whole that kept getting bigger as the night went on, but the comeback came up short in the end, 53-45.  The Hawks trailed at the ends of the first quarter 16-7, then falling even further behind 28-15 at halftime. Both teams’ offenses picked it up in the third quarter, but the Hawks found themselves trailing 46-30 at the end of the third quarter.  The 4th quarter saw a surge from the Hawks that cut the deficit from 16 down to 5 with just under two minutes to play.  Roeper held off the surge to win by eight. The Hawks had a balanced attack being led by Jonathan Tosto’s 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Josh Taube added 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Other contributors were: Logan Schliewe (7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists), Logan Kittle (6 points), Dima Machovec (5 points, 3 rebounds), Cameron Ohlsson (5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists), and John Lovell (2 points).

Roeper 57 – Boys’ JV 34

Jack Beeskow scored 22 points in the loss. Other Hawk scorers included: Colin Krzeminski (3), Roberto Arce Izaola (3), Angel Aguilar (2), Wesley Tu (2), and Matt Nielson (2).
