HVL Softball 15 – Greenhills 4

The Hawks cruised to an easy victory over Greenhills 15-4 on Tuesday. HVL jumped out early scoring three runs in the first and never looked back, scoring in everyone inning except one. Emily Haines and Sophie Doehrer eace doubled in the first to drive in the three Hawk runs. Chelsea Kennedy reached on a bunt single and scored on a wild pitch to extend the Hawk lead to 4-1 after two innings. Chloe Wellday singled in the third to push the lead to 5 to 1.  HVL notched four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive attack in that inning was led by Chelsea Kennedy, Emily Haines, Annika Van Loton, and Sophie Doehrer, who each had RBIs in the inning to give the Hawks a 9 to lead. Hannah Wellday doubled to drive in two more in the sixth, and Dana LeFevre capped off the win in the seventh with an inside the park home run.  Emily Haines got the win for the Hawks.  She surrendered two earned runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out ten.

The Hawks travel to Inter-City Baptist in a conference match-up on Thursday, April 25 at 4:30.


HVL Baseball 7 – Roeper 3

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead at Roeper in the first as Zac Ott crossed the plate. The score remained that way until the top of the third when the Hawks scored four runs to take a 5-0 lead. Josh Taube, Jonathan Tosto, Cameron Ohlsson, and Andrew Olson powered the big inning with RBIs. The two team traded runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Roeper added one more in the seventh as HVL earned the 7-3 victory.  Cameron Ohlsson was the winning pitcher for the Hawks. He pitched five innings, allowing only one run while striking out 11.  Jonathan Tosto finished off the last two innings, striking out two.

The Hawks return home on Thursday in a rematch with Roeper. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
