Van Loton Earns Victory For HVL In No-Hitter Against Clintondale

Erika Van Loton was brilliant in the pitcher’s circle on Saturday, as Van Loton threw a no-hitter to lead the Hawks Varsity past Clintondale 14-1 in Game 1 of the Round Robin.

HVL secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the fifth inning. Abby Wellday, Kate Beckerman, Annika Van Loton, and Maddie Welday all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Van Loton earned the victory on the rubber for the Hawks. Van Loton went five innings, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out eight.

The Hawks racked up 12 hits. Annika Van Loton, Erika Van Loton, Maddie Wellday, Matty Hanselman, and Alexis Schliewe each racked up multiple hits for the Hawks. Annika Van Loton led the team with three hits in three at bats.  The Hawks didn’t commit a single error in the field. 

In game two, the Hawks built a six-run lead in the third inning and then held off Parkway Christian’s charge for a 12-11 victory on Saturday.

Annika Van Loton led the Hawks to victory by driving in four runs. Van Loton went 3-for-4 at the plate. Van Loton drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second.

HVL  pulled away for good with seven runs in the second inning. In the second Annika Van Lotondoubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, Maddie Welday singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, Alexis Schliewe doubled on a 3-0 count, scoring two runs, Lilly Nguyen singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, and Naomi Foley grounded out, scoring one run.

Erika Van Loton earned the victory in the circle for the Hawks.Erika  went five innings, allowing 11 runs on six hits and striking out 11.
